It all started on Sunday nights at Kokomo Speedway. Dad and I sitting in the stands watching winged sprint cars on the 1/4 mile dirt track. A love was formed early, and like every young kid in the stands, I dreamed of one day racing around Kokomo Speedway in a sprint car just like the heroes I was watching and carrying the checkered flag around the track after winning the A Main. Then reality of the costs sunk in, and I knew I wouldn't be able to afford to race. Then in 2000, Tony Carlson, my team leader at the time, told me he raced micro sprints on Saturday nights. He showed me a picture and explained what a micro sprint was. Immediately, I was interested. He invited me to come by his house and check out the car and go to the track with him the next Saturday night. All it took was one night, and I was hooked. Finally, I had found a form of sprint car racing that I could afford. Then, on September 9, 2000, Tony offered my a chance to drive one of his cars in the 400 Sportsman class. From that point on, there was no turning back. I just had to have one! One week later, I purchased my first car. A white and orange 1994 Heflin 600cc micro sprint.
These days, racing is still a passion. However, times have changed. I now have children and a career. I have 2 sets of identical twin daughters Jamie and Danielle, and Allison and Olivia. I have a career as a Firefighter EMT in Noblesville, Indiana. Between my girls and my career, Saturday nights at the race track are second priority. However, you can bet, when I am at the track, that passion will still be there. I still have the desire to win, and one more dream to fulfill. I still want to carry that checkered flag around the track after winning the A Main.
